Restore Your Naturally Youthful Volume

The normal aging process involves the loss of body fat, often on the face and neck. Over time, this gradual fat loss can create an aged, deflated appearance that makes you look older than you feel.

Autologous fat transplantation, also known as fat transfer, is a minimally invasive procedure that can counter this loss. It works by taking fat from another area of your body and using it to restore supple volume to your face. It is safe, natural, hypo-allergenic, and very long-lasting.

The Procedure

To begin your fat transfer, Dr. Firouz will perform gentle liposuction to collect fat for the transfer. In many cases, he will harvest this fat from a stubborn problem area that has been unresponsive to diet and exercise, such as the tummy, love handles, or thighs.

Once he has collected enough fat for the procedure, he will purify the fat cells and inject them throughout the face. Depending on the signs of aging you want to address, he may transfer fat to your cheeks, undereye area, lips, temples, and more.

Your Recovery

Your initial recovery period will last about two weeks. During this time, swelling and bruising are common. You can address any discomfort by gently massaging the area, elevating your head, applying cold compresses, and taking your prescribed pain medication.

Most of our patients can resume their normal daily activities within three weeks and more strenuous activities within six weeks. During your post-operative appointments, Dr. Firouz will guide your recovery and ensure you heal properly.

Facial Fat TransferFAQs

Am I a candidate for a facial fat transfer?

Most patients are candidates for facial fat transfer. As long as you are in good health, have realistic expectations, and have enough fat available for harvesting, the procedure may be a suitable option.

Should I have a fat transfer or dermal fillers?

Both approaches restore volume, but they differ in longevity and technique. Fillers are temporary and require maintenance, while fat transfer uses your own tissue and can provide longer-lasting results once the grafted fat stabilizes.

How much of the transferred fat typically survives?

Not all transferred fat will remain long term. A portion is naturally reabsorbed by the body, which is why careful placement and technique are important to achieving a lasting result.

Can facial fat transfer look overfilled or unnatural?

When performed with precision, the goal is subtle, natural enhancement. Overfilling is avoided by carefully layering small amounts of fat to create balanced, refined results.

Is facial fat transfer permanent?

The fat that successfully establishes a blood supply can remain for many years. However, natural aging will continue to affect the face over time.

Can this procedure improve under-eye hollowness?

Yes, fat transfer is often used to restore volume beneath the eyes. This area requires a delicate approach to ensure smooth, natural-looking results.

Will I have swelling in both the face and the donor area?

Yes, mild swelling and bruising can occur in both areas. These effects are temporary and improve as healing progresses.

Can facial fat transfer be repeated if needed?

Yes, some patients choose to have an additional session to build on their results or refine specific areas once healing is complete.
